What is resin art and what’s so good about it?
Well, first of all, it’s beautiful!
This modern technique has quickly gained popularity in both art and design. You can now find resin art pieces in galleries specializing in contemporary and avant-garde art.
Still, at art shows where I showcase my work, I am often asked, “What is this?” Art lovers haven’t necessarily heard of, let alone seen, resin art in person.
I’ve been using epoxy resin to create my paintings for several years now—long before it became trendy and widespread. Honestly, I initially thought mixing resin with paints or inks and pouring it onto a wooden panel was my own invention! But no. At the same time other artists worldwide were exploring this method too.
I have to confess, the process is incredibly addictive! And the results are stunning: the paintings may resemble Murano stained glass. Sometimes, they look like marble or the slice of a gemstone. Colored resin pairs beautifully with rough textures, natural materials, crystals, and glass.
Interior designers in the know have been harnessing the potential of resin for years, achieving great results. They’ve won over clients and earned accolades in design competitions by using resin art to decorate hotel lobbies, restaurants, high-tech and creative company spaces, and, of course, private residences.
When Claude Monet painted Impression, Sunrise—the first Impressionist masterpiece—it caused outrage among critics accustomed to classical realism. It’s a familiar story: critics raise their eyebrows, but art and design continue to evolve, always seeking something new and 'delightfully unconventional.' In the end, it’s all about bringing joy and inspiration to art lovers!
